Adjustable skid shoes beneath the main frame determine the minimum height of the main frame above ground. The rockshaft is adjustably movable laterally to change the angle between its axis and the sickle-bar mower to account for differences in drag offered by various crops and ground conditions. 1. In an agricultural machine adapted to be drawn by a tractor and comprising a main frame having a hitch pole and a pair of spaced apart wheel assemblies, each of which assemblies comprises a transport wheel, a rockshaft for supporting said wheel assemblies and disposed on said main frame, bearing means on said main frame for rotatably supporting said rockshaft, and means mounted on said main frame and remotely operable from said tractor to effect rotation of said rockshaft to adjust the position of said wheel assemblies with respect to said main frame and thereby regulate the position of said main frame with respect to the ground.
2. A machine according to claim 1 wherein each of said wheel assemblies comprises a bias arm rigidly connected to and extending transversely from said rockshaft; a wheel support on which said wheel is mounted for rotation, said wheel support being pivotably connected to said bias arm, and resilient means connected between said wheel support and a point fixed with respect to said rockshaft.
3. A machine according to claim 2 wherein said resilient means comprises a torsion bar which is connected at one end to said wheel support and which is connected at its other end to said point.
4. A machine according to claim 3 wherein said one end of said torsion bar is slidably engageable with a component secured to said wheel support.
5. A machine according to claim 4 wherein said component is adjustably movable with respect to said wheel support to change the tension setting of said torsion bar.
6. A machine according to claim 5 wherein said point at which said other end of said torsion bar is connected is the bias arm of the other of said wheel assemblies.
7. A machine according to claim 6 wherein said operatin means comprises a hydraulic actuator and a mechanical linkage connected between said actuator and said rockshaft.
8. A machine according to claim 7 wherein said machine comprises a sickle bar on said main frame which is normally disposed in generally parallel relationship to said rockshaft; wherein said bearing means for said rockshaft comprises at least one bearing which is movable with respect to said main frame to change the angular relationship between the axis of said rockshaft and said sickle bar.
9. A machine according to claim 8 wherein said hitch pole for connection to said tractor is pivotably connected to said main frame near one side thereof, a support plate mounted on said main frame and disposed beneath said hitch pole in supporting relationship, first positioning means on said support plate, and second positioning means on said hitch pole for releasable engagement with said first positioning means to secure said hitch pole in predetermined angular positions with respect to said main frame.
10. A machine according to claim 9 including travel limiting means on said support plate and said hitch pole to prevent said hitch pole from being pivoted off of said support plate when said first and second positioning means are disengaged.
11. A machine according to claim 10 wherein said first positioning means comprises a plurality of radially positioned holes in said support plate and wherein said second positioning means comprises a remotely movable pin selectively engageable with each of said holes.
12. In an agricultural machine comprising a main frame and a wheel assembly therefor movable downwardly from one position to a transport position wherein said main frame is raised further above the ground: a rockshaft rotatably mounted on said main frame, a wheel assembly pivotably mounted on said rockshaft, actuator means connected between said main frame and said rockshaft operable in one direction to effect rotation of said rockshaft and said wheel assembly to transport position, linkage means connected between said wheel assembly and said main frame to effect additional rotational movement of saiD wheel assembly with respect to said rockshaft as the wheel assembly is moved toward transport position by rotation of said rockshaft, and releasable float lock means to lock the wheel assembly in transport position.
13. A machine according to claim 12 wherein said rockshaft is provided with a transport lift arm and wherein said actuator means comprises a piston rod movable from one position to transport position and including: a release link pivotably connected to said transport lift arm, said piston rod being pivotably connected to said release link and engageable with said transport lift arm when moving the latter to transport position, said piston rod being disengageable from said transport lift arm when returning to said one position.
14. A machine according to claim 13 wherein said wheel fork is provided with a rigidly attached crank arm and wherein said linkage means comprises an upper link pivotably connected to said main frame and a lower link pivotably connected to said upper link and to said crank arm, said lower link being adapted to engage said wheel fork to effect said additional rotational movement of said wheel fork as said wheel fork is moved by said rockshaft.
15. In an agricultural machine comprising a main frame and a wheel assembly therefor rotatable downwardly from one position to a transport position wherein said main frame is raised further above the ground; a rockshaft rotatably mounted on said main frame and having a bias arm, a transport lift arm, and a float stop arm rigidly secured thereto, a wheel fork pivotally connected to said bias arm and movable downwardly from said one position to said transport position, a release link pivotably connected to said transport lift arm, hydraulic actuator means connected to said release link and engageable with said transport lift arm for effecting downward movement of said release link and transport lift arm from one position to transport position when actuated, a linkage connected between said main frame and said wheel fork for effecting additional movement of said wheel fork as the latter is moved downwardly by said actuator, a means on said main frame to engage the float stop arm to thereby maintain said wheel fork in extended position when said actuator effects return of said release link to said one position.
16. A machine according to claim 15 including resilient biasing means connected between said wheel support and a point fixed with respect to said rockshaft.
17. In an agricultural machine comprising a main frame; a rockshaft mounted for rotation on said main frame, a bias arm rigidly connected to said rockshaft, a wheel assembly comprising a wheel fork and a wheel mounted for rotation thereon, said wheel support being pivotably mounted on said bias arm, a transport lift arm rigidly connected to said rockshaft, a lever arm release link pivotably connected to said transport lift arm, a hydraulic actuator connected between said main frame and said lever arm release link, said release link and said transport lift arm being movable downwardly when said actuator is extended to effect rotation of said rockshaft and corresponding downward movement of said transport lift arm and downward movement of said wheel support to transport height, a wheel fork crank arm connected to said wheel fork, an upper link pivotably connected to said upper link and to said wheel fork crank arm, said lower link being adapted to engage said wheel fork and accelerate rotation thereof about said rockshaft when said wheel fork has rotated a predetermined amount, a float stop arm rigidly connected to said rockshaft, and a transport link pivotably connected to said float stop arm and adapted to be secured to said main frame to prevent return rotation of said rockshaft, when said hydraulic actuator is retracted and said lever arm release link is pivoted upwardly.
18. A machine according to claim 17 including resIlient biasing means in the form of a torsion bar connected between said wheel support and said rockshaft.
